-"how small my portion seemed! i wished it had been doubled" Jane is realizing how harsh the school is with very little food and water.
-Helen one of janes friends is very religeous "a light invisible to my eyes". Janes first and only friend so far maybe she has some purpose in her life.
-"i saw it was an accident; you shall not be punished" jane was very pleased when she heard she wasnt going to be punished. this could be a turn in her life.

-Jane goes to the Lowood school. She was basiclly treated the same way there. She is a burden to everyone because she is a lower class child.

-Jane Eyre is introduces into the novel. She explains that she is a lonely orphan that lives with her aunt and a couple cousins.
-John,Janes brother is introduced. "he bullied and punished me" John is Continuously abusing jane phsically and verbally. He has been doing this for a while so she is scared of him.
-Jane always gets punished such as when she hit john is a self-defence act. I wonder why they favor john over jane.
-Jane gets locked in the Red room where her uncle died. sence of irony or foreshadowing. shes sent there because she is being punished.
-Bronte alludes to death and depression such as ghosts, black dogs, 3 knocks on the door, lights over the grave.
